With the acquisition
of BIOTEC, SPHERE is now wellpositioned to meet
the challenges of the future in the world of fully
biodegradable plastics. While enormous progress
has been achieved over the past 30 years, in particular
by significantly reducing the thickness of film
and, by the same token, the quantity of fossil materials
used, there can be no doubt that the development
of biopolymers is the key issue for the future of
the plastics processing industry.
At SPHERE we employ some 30 engineers and technical
staff dedicated to fundamental and applied research
in the field of biopolymers, working towards our
goal of creating new products that are 100% made
from renewable starch-based raw materials. This
is a key part of our commitment to research, combined
with our partnership arrangements with universities
and other institutions. |
